Arriving at the lobby of The Slate is stepping into an artful blend of industrial beauty and natural allure. Even before arriving at Rivet & Rebar, you get the sense that you are about to experience an evening that you will never forget.
Rivet restaurant, located at The Slate – an iconic resort at Nai Yang Beach – offers up an exceptional and unique dining experience in Phuket. With its industrial design and chic mood lighting, the open-fired grill and smokehouse presents a menu filled with delicious appetisers, vegetarian options and a variety of tantalising choices from the land and the sea. There is also a dedicated kids’ menu crafted to satisfy the appetites of the youngest foodies at the table.
After fawning over the gorgeous interiors of the restaurant, we were sat at our table while cold drinks and menus were distributed. It is important to note that the waiting staff at Rivet restaurant are passionate about their jobs. Our waitress answered any questions we had and was quick to recommend dishes. She was also very efficient in asking about food allergies, which our entire party appreciated.
We ordered appetisers including the creamy Burrata Salad, served with pear, Parma ham and honey as well as the Duo Duck. This dish consists of duck confit and crispy duck leg, served with wild rocket and balsamic vinaigrette. The duck confit was so savoury and tender. We also enjoyed a rich, hearty Parisian-style French Onion Soup with caramelised onion, brioche and molten cheese.
The Picanha, our main course, arrived with little wait. This is the restaurant’s Brazilian speciality with garlic cream, black garlic and red wine. The meat was grilled to perfection and was melt-in-your-mouth tender. We chose Creamy Mashed Potatoes and Sichuan Pepper Smoked Eggplant as sides and a zesty Chipotle Chimichurri as our sauce. The meal was delightful, and while it was simple, the flavours and textures exploded due to the high quality ingredients the restaurant uses.
Although stuffed, we settled on desserts to share: the Chocolate Fondant and Lemon Cheesecake. While you can never go wrong with molten chocolate, the Lemon Cheesecake with its fresh, tart flavour, was truly the highlight.
Dining at Rivet restaurant is truly a top-tier experience. It’s a memorable dining experience defined by exceptional food, attentive hospitality and a beautifully curated atmosphere. I thoroughly recommend putting Rivet restaurant on your must-visit restaurant list.
In addition to the à la carte menu, Rivet & Rebar offers Le Menu Dégustation and Le Menu Rivet which both include beverage pairings and showcase favourite suggestions from the chef.
