www.fourpointsphuketpatong.comIt’s a lovely, sunny summer day when we visit The Deck Beach Club Patong. We’re immediately greeted by friendly staff asking us where we’d like to sit. We choose a small table in the shade near the bar, and browse the menu. The server is quick to recommend favorite dishes, and my dining partner and I choose the rest based on sheer curiosity.
Our order consisted of the Spicy Thai Beef Salad, Royal Project Chiang Mai Avocado Tempura, Four Points Burger, Tiger Crying Steak and the Andaman Sea Bass Sandwich. It should be noted that presentation of each menu item is simple, with most dishes being served in vintage bowls or on wooden platters.
The Thai food at The Deck Beach Club Patong is completely authentic. Fresh ingredients, zesty flavors and much to my surprise and liking, very spicy. The grilled beef sirloin in the Spicy Thai Beef Salad is extremely tender, and the salad is smothered in a delicious spicy lime dressing. The recommended Tiger Crying Steak is perfection. This dish features Thai-style marinated Phon Yang Kham beef cheek in a spicy tamarind sauce, and it’s served with rice and papaya salad. The flavor of the Tiger Crying Steak is really delicious; it’s both spicy and smoky and the beef cheek is so tender it melts in your mouth.
The Royal Project Chiang Mai Avocado Tempura is perfect for avocado lovers. Lightly breaded, the avocado is warm, rich and creamy and pairs well with a sweet dipping sauce. The dish is definitely interesting, and makes a great poolside snack. Next up is the appealing Four Points Burger. Consisting of a 200 gram Australian beef patty, tomato, iceberg lettuce, pickle, bacon and secret sauce, it’s a great tasting burger that is served with french fries. The burger portion is definitely big enough to share.
My definite favorite from the menu is the Andaman Sea Bass Sandwich, and that says a lot considering I rarely eat fish! The sea bass is perfectly breaded and fried. It tastes light and crispy and is topped with a slice of cheese, lettuce and a pickle, and slathered in a delicious, tangy sauce. The hoagie style bun the sandwich is served has the perfect chewy consistency. The sandwich is served with fries and two different dipping sauces.
The Deck Beach Club Patong serves up a great dining experience. Plain and simple, the food is really good. The menu offers up enough choices to suit all tastes, the staff are knowledgable and happy to recommend dishes, plus it’s a fun little spot to sit back and relax just across from Patong Beach.
