The Current of the Sea, located in La Flora Resort Patong, a boutique
hotel that features the comforts of elegant pool and ocean villas, is
a unique retreat from its location adjacent to the Beach Road of bustling
Patong.
Exotic cocktails with dazzling names are the way to begin the
enticing evening whether seating is al fresco street
side, in the covered restaurant or outside by the pool. A further enticement
to the evening are the sounds of the guitar and the voices of the two
singers Franco and Rebecca – talented and delightful strolling
musicians with a wealth of songs in their repertoire. Just name one!
Dishes
of note originate from the kitchen of The Current of
the Sea. The Cherry Tomato and Basil Soup served with a puff cheese straw
and the Rich Andaman Seafood Chowder accompanied by garlic bread were
wonderful starters to the meal. The soups – traditional and contemporary dishes – offered
an array of well-chosen and blended ingredients and spices.
Succulent seafood
and meat were a superb following to the starters. The
Fresh Herb and Tumeric Salmon, a fillet of salmon steak served with steamed
rice and spinach was an elegantly presented and delicious fish dish.
Similarly, the Provençale
Marinated New Zealand Lamb Rack with zucchini, tomatoes,
potatoes and a mint gravy offered the lamb lover a moist stack of chops
over top a well-selected choice of vegetables.
The Current of the Sea presents
an extensive wine list of Old and New selections. Red
or white, choose what suits your dish or palate as there is a wonderful
wine that awaits!
Delightful desserts are always an outstanding aspect
to a meal with chocolate and custard being complimentary
options. To sheer delight as well as to the sweet tooth, the American
Cake with red cherry compote and the Homemade Caramel Custard with fruit
salad were ideal companions as recommended by the Food and Beverage Manager
Warodom Kanmaen.
