Olé! And spice it up! To tastes of the hot and piquant and sounds of the lively and high-spirited, slide in and move to the medley of La Salsa. With a distinctive Latino style of dance music and the spicy flavours of a condiment for which this restaurant is named, an exciting theme opens an opportunity for a memorable evening out.
Situated on the bustling Beach Road of Patong, La Salsa features a long bar at which you can belly up and savour a variety of tapas and cocktails from tempting menus. Several indoor and outdoor tables – particularly inviting for a group of friends wanting to share a variety of tantalizing items – also adorn this brightly coloured venue.
In conjunction with the salsa sounds that encourage you to dance when enter the cantina, a lime Margarita – a natural choice given the atmosphere and our fare for the evening – was an ideal way to get us into the mood of things.
La Salsa offers an abundance of interesting tapas choices from its bar placard menus. Decisions were made easy thanks to Executive Chef Ronnie Macula, the mastermind behind the Impiana Phuket Cabana’s La Salsa, Sala Bula and Three Spices restaurants. Grateful for his assistance and suggestions, and later, for the superb tastes and terrific presentations of his dishes, we enjoyed a spectacular fare.
Our tapas dishes consisted of an assortment of seafood delights: smoked salmon interspersed with guacamole in a clear shot glass; grilled prawns in a parmesan velouté on a bed of zucchini strips; large, breaded and deep-fried prawns lay side by side to be enjoyed with a tartar-style sauce as did a breaded mussel mixture.
Dessert yielded an unusual selection of treats. Warm melted chocolate served in a hard-boiled egg – a chocolate lover’s delight – was testimony to Chef Ronnie’s innovative style. Bananas and jackfruit in a deep-fried pastry served with a vanilla sauce were also sweets to savour.
For a taste of the Latino, La Salsa hosts a spice of lively music, food and drink. Olé!
